When I look in the mirror and see my stomach and my bubbies, this is the song that comes to mind. For those that don't know, it is a song from the movie Monster's Inc. Sully and Mike are arguing over putting Boo back through a door that is not her house and some people see them and ask what they are doing, so Mike turns it into a song for their company musical he says "it's called Put That Thing Back Where It Came From Or So Help Me"
Anyway this is my weight loss blog. My goal is to lose 60 lbs by May 21st (the tenative date for my 10 year high school reunion).
I've had four kids and four c-sections so I'm pretty Gah-Ross looking right now. I've already lost a bunch of weight on my own. The day that I delivered my 4th baby I weighed 95 lbs more than I did when I got pregnant with my first. I was a whopping 270 lbs. My normal weight before I had my daughter was 170-175 without trying to do anything. Sounds like a lot but I was about a size 12 at that point.
Yesterday I went to a weight loss clinic to get started taking hcg shots and adipex (phentermine). I know how to lose weight, and at one point I had already lost 58lbs, however my children like to stay sick from October to April so I haven't been able to go to the gym regularly. I'm also in school full time. I take classes online from our local community college and last semester was really stressful as I had 3 classes that were in an 8 week format. So they were very condensed and I had a ton of work. Then we had the holidays too. I generally end up eating the least of all my family during the holidays, so it wasn't thanksgiving and christmas that made me gain back weight. It was being stressed during finals and having cold weather and making big pots of chili and stew.
I don't really care for sweets that much, though I do like soda. My main problem is I love salty comfort food like chili, taco soup, stew, a big huge plate of pasta with marinara sauce. And instead of dessert, I'll normally have a second serving (which calorie wise is probably more like an extra 2 servings because those things are very dense and a normal size bowl full is a ton more calories and sodium than anyone needs).
So I had lost 7 lbs, but then very quickly put back 9.4 lbs. My jeans from my husband's Christmas party, do not fit me :(
So I've decided that since I love to eat and I eat out of boredom, that perhaps an appetite suppressant would help. So I went to the clinic yesterday and had my first weigh in.
The scale said 218 lbs which would mean I'm still down 52 lbs from the day I had my last child (which was April 21st 2009 so he is about 22 months old right now). I lost the majority of that weight within 3 months of having my soon. That's part of the joys of having a kids is seeing a bunch of weight melt off really fast. Plus I had him in the spring so 6 weeks later (once my c-section was healed), I was good to go. I worked out all summer and was eating pretty decently.
So I've maintained a weight loss between 50-60 lbs for 19 months. I've sort of been on this plateau where I lose and gain. I stopped losing once the kids started getting sick in the fall of 2009. Then I lost weight when they stopped getting sick in the spring of 2010. Then my husband lost his job but got another one almost immediately but since his job has a sort of sales aspect to it it took a few months to build things back up and I was definitely stress eating and eating a bunch of crap because we couldn't afford a lot of fresh foods.
Then I lost some more and then the kids got sick again etc and now we are here after I've gained back 9.4 lbs. Now the math may not be adding up, but that is because the scale at the weight clinic is off compared to the scale at my gym. And since I have access to the scale at the gym more often, that is the number I will mainly use. So are you ready for my real number? It's 224.6 O_O YIKES! I don't like 218, but I definitely don't like 224.6 Especially since I've gained 9 of it recently and my clothes don't fit well.
So I'm going to make a chart to keep track of my measurements and my weight etc. I will list both the gym weight and the clinic weight.
I did start the hcg shots yesterday in addition to the adipex because it was only $10 more a week and it also had b12 in it which is another great energy booster.
I'm hoping that since the adipex gives you energy as well as suppressing your appetite, and since the b12 helps with energy too, that I will lose more weight even if I still have to miss the gym due to sick babies, because I will be more motivated to get up off my butt, stop looking at facebook and other websites, and perhaps be a better housekeeper.
So here are the goals:
Lose 60 lbs (so I'm under 160 according to the clinic scales)
Have more energy
Do better in school (cause these things are supposed to focus you as well)
Do a better job keeping my house clean
And to Put these things back where they came from!
What do I mean by that last one? Well I am hopefully having a tummy tuck done in March sometime. I want to lose at least 26 lbs before I get it done. I have to be under 200 lbs before I will do it. And I want that to be under 200 according to the gym scale, not the doctor's office scale.
I'm hoping for mid-march so I have time to recover and have most of the major swelling gone. Cause what good is a tummy tuck if your swelling makes you look bigger than what you are. Also I will lose 6 weeks at the gym (at least hard core exercising) and I will have to stop taking the adipex about 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the surgery. So I will be on my own for about 4 months. I really hope I make it through!
Wish me luck!
Good luck Naomi, you can do it!!!
